SMT Operator  - Full-time

Permanent Position


 Assist and participate in the daily operations of the SMT production lines. Responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of the SMT line, including preventative maintenance.



  • Responsible for running the SMT lines

  • Responsible for SMT machine and feeder setup

  • Perform parts taping and reeling when required

  • Verifying board assembly prior to reflow

  • Ensure the parts are installed on the board as per Bill of Materials (BOM) and View Station

  • Ensure workmanship conforms to IPC 610 Standards

  • To make sure first piece is being done completely before giving a green signal to the SMT line to run

  • Ensure all the problems found during the first piece inspection have been highlighted to the SMT technicians and have been rectified before running the second board

  • To perform daily preventive maintenance of the SMT equipment

  • Verify all processes are performed to the correct corresponding documentation

  • Ensure to run Quality Product on all SMT lines, stop and raise issues when required

  • Report all issues to Quality Control and the SMT Team Lead

  • Make sure housekeeping is being done at all areas and is maintained at all times

  • Ensure that each board is being properly scanned through the internal tracking system, read and follow work instructions

  • Bring all scanning related issues to the attention of the SMT Team Lead

  • Handle and store materials/boards using ESD guidelines

  • Ensure quality standards are maintained all through the production process

  • Position may involve physical demands such stand, sit and lifting of heavy objects up to 35 lbs.

  • Perform other relevant tasks as required in production



  • Good knowledge of electronic assemblies including through-hole and SMT components, drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs)

  • Knowledge of quality systems and ESD control

  • Hands-on experience with SMT process, solder paste, and stencils

  • Experience with IPC Standards and ISO 9001:2008

  • Experience with Reflow ovens

  • Experience working with SMT Machines

  • Ability to read drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs)

  • Able to read values and correct polarity of Surface Mount components

  • Team player

  • Hardworking and reliable

  • Detail-oriented

  • High School diploma required

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
