SMT Operator - Full Time


Assist and participate in the daily operations of the SMT production lines. You are responsible for the set up, operation and maintenance of the SMT line, including preventative maintenance.



  • Responsible for running the SMT lines

  • Responsible for SMT machine and feeder setup

  • Perform parts taping and reeling when required

  • Verifying board assembly prior to reflow

  • Ensure the parts are installed on the board as per Bill of Materials (BOM) and View Station

  • Ensure workmanship conforms to IPC 610 Standards

  • To make sure first off is being done completely before giving a green signal to the SMT line to run

  • Ensure all the problems found during the first off inspection have been highlighted to the SMT technicians and have been rectified before running the second board

  • To perform daily preventive maintenance of the SMT equipment

  • Verify all processes are performed to the correct corresponding documentation

  • Ensure to run Quality Product on all SMT lines, stop and raise issues when required

  • Report all issues to Quality Control and SMT Supervisor

  • Make sure housekeeping is being done at all areas and is maintained at all times

  • Ensure that each board is being properly scanned through the internal tracking system, read and follow work instructions

  • Bring all scanning related issues to the attention of the SMT Supervisor

  • Handle and store materials/boards using ESD guidelines

  • Ensure quality standards are maintained all through the production process

  • Position may involve physical demands such stand, sit and  lifting of heavy objects up to 25lbs

  • Perform other relevant tasks as required in production



  • Good knowledge of electronic assemblies including through hole and SMT components, drawings and Bill of Materials (BOMS)

  • Knowledge of quality systems and ESD control

  • Hands on experience with SMT process, solder paste, stencils, inspection and soldering

  • Experience with Reflow ovens

  • Experience with IPC Standards with respect to PCB repair and ISO 9002 would be an asset

  • Experience working with SMT Machines

  • Ability to read drawings, Bills of Material (BOMS) and schematics

  • Able to read values and correct polarity of Surface Mount components

  • Team player

  • Hardworking and reliable

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to read, write and speak English

  • Minimum 2 years experience in SMT Line Operation



  • Certificate or Diploma in Electronics or enrolled in a technical school

  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge an asset
