Chemical (Foam) Machine Operator - Full-time

Permanent Position

SCOPE

The Foam Machine Operator will set up and operates the machinery in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements. The operator adjusts machines and documents all work performed. Adjust, calibrate, and test equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature, and general operation. Examine visually, weigh, and measure components created from equipment at determined intervals to ensure machines are producing according to company and industry regulations and standards, making adjustments as needed. Work with team members, supervisors, and all necessary personnel to take care of complications as they arise. Communicate with fellow team members to learn of any equipment problems or malfunctions and take care of them as they come up. Communicate necessary repairs of equipment and assist in root cause analysis.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate clear instructions to team members.

  • Set up and operate foam injection machines.

  • Prep, set up and tear down of the foam molds.

  • Run material through foam machine according to company specifications.

  • Ensure correct materials and setting are used to meet customers specifications.

  • Ensure all inventory entries are complete and accurate.

  • Responsible for inspection and maintaining quality and efficiency standards.

  • Use basic problem-solving skills to ensure stable operation of the work cell.

  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor.

  • Work closely with support staff such as Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Team Leads, Materials/Warehouse to resolve issues.

  • Update production metrics and facilitate regular team communication.

  • Sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 7S activities.

  • Participate as an active member of the production assembly team and assembles products.

  • Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

 

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience with IPC Standards and ISO 9001:2015 preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.

  • Ability to work with others collaboratively.

  • Strong organizational skills.

 

PREFERRED

  • Experience with foam machine strongly desired.

  • Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS​​

  • Ability to use hands to handle small parts and components.

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
