Chemical Manufacturing Engineer - Full-time 

Permanent Position

SCOPE

The Chemical Manufacturing Engineer will lead process development and improvement initiatives in coordination with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management, Materials and Production Staff.  The Chemical Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and improve the refrigeration technology with his/her technical and foaming expertise.   This role will establish and enhance manufacturing processes, driving costs down while assuring efficient operations that produce a consistent and quality product.  This position reports to the General Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Chemical Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing and enhancing equipment, tooling and processing techniques of the foaming manufacturing process.

  • This individual will be the Project Management Lead of commissioning a foaming production line assuring that project timelines and customer commitments are achieved.

  • To assist the team in identifying product design improvements as it pertains to manufacturing costs, take time improvements, repeatability and optimal product quality.

  • Create safe operating procedures and safety protocol for the foaming process and environment.

  • To manage pre-foam assembly, chemical storage and flow, product fixturing, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting and other technologies relates to Polyurethane foam.

  • To collaborate with the internal team, customer, equipment suppliers and chemical suppliers to implement the foaming process and assure project timelines are met.

  • Perform the role of Vexos Corporate Subject Matter Expert regarding the foaming products assisting with a future implementation of foaming at other Vexos facility locations.

  • Identify technology trends and determine how they can be used in manufacturing operations.

 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering

  • Must have strong knowledge and experience in foam packaging and manufacturing processes

  • A minimum of 5 years in closed cell foaming processing for a manufacturing plant

  • Strong experience in PU foam process (Chemical plant, mechanical, tooling and quality).

  • Experience in troubleshooting simple and complex pressure variations, pump though-put issues, poor foam quality, dimensional variations, mix head and diverter valve functioning, etc.

  • Excellent Leadership, Mentoring and Project Management skills.

  • Self starter, a team player, good communication skills and able to handle multiple tasks smoothly

  • Excellent knowledge of design for test, coverage and related functional test specifications including detailed schematic analysis.

  • Effective problem solving and organization skills

  • Detail and Quality Oriented

  • Effective technical communication (both written and verbal)

  • Excellent knowledge of process fixtures design (solder pallets, work holders, etc.)

  • Expert Failure Analysis and Troubleshoot skills

  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Gerber Viewer, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and PC knowledge required.

  • This position will initially be based out of our LaGrange, Ohio facility.

  • This position will be required to assist set up operations in Vietnam late 2021.

  • Must have a valid passport and be willing to travel.

  • Commercial refrigeration experience is preferred however not mandatory
