Business Intelligence Developer
 

SUMMARY

The Business Intelligence Developer consults with business users to determine functional information needs.  Designs and develops technical solutions using T-SQL, MS SQL Server tools, and other Microsoft and third-party tools.  Extracts data from disparate sources and creates data models to translate the data into information that empowers users to make business decisions.  Integrates ERP, Salesforce.com, Sharepoint, and other business applications by sharing data across systems via ETL.   Manages and monitors systems once implemented to ensure successful operation with no disruption to the user experience.  Creates ad hoc reports as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop an enterprise data warehouse that consolidates data from four different ERP systems and other business applications.

  • Enable the data warehouse to be accessed globally via Power BI, Excel, or other tools to be defined.

  • Ensure that the data warehouse runs as designed, the data is up to date and accurate.

  • Design / develop / administer solutions using MS SQL Server (2000, 2005, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014) including SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.

  • Integrate Sharepoint Online applications, data warehouse, ERP systems, Salesforce.com, financial consolidation system, and other applications by exporting / importing data and/or linking shared data sources.

  • Conduct meetings, informal discussions, and communicate via email with end business users located in the United States, Canada, and China to identify and define information needs.

  • Design and develop solutions to satisfy the needs of the business users.

  • Administer and support solutions after implemented; performance tune as appropriate to optimize solutions.

  • Collaborate with business users, other IT staff members, and potential third party solution providers in developing and managing solutions.

  • Writes well structured, easy to maintain T-SQL code.

  • Develops standard reports and ad hoc reports as needed.

  • Supports / troubleshoots database problems, ETL issues, and data integrity problems.

  • Other duties as assigned.

                                                                                                             

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in designing, building, and administering an enterprise data warehouse from inception to completion.

  • Ability to investigate, analyze, design, and build information solutions using MS SQL Server tools (T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)

  • Ability to perform complex ETL operations between MS SQL Server databases, MS Access, Sharepoint, cloud based applications, and flat file based systems.

  • Ability to write T-SQL stored procedures, triggers, functions, etc.

  • Ability to design, create, manage, update any/all objects within SQL Server.

  • Experience working in a global setting with a geographically diverse team.

  • ERP experience is a must; experience with Syspro, Manex, Dynamics AX is preferred.

  • Experience creating SQL Server based solutions in hybrid-cloud environment on Azure.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related field preferred (relavent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).

  • Minimum 5 years experience developing solutions with MS SQL Server and programming
    T-SQL.
